DMTSO Registration for Fall 2009/Spring 2010
DublinRocksParent 2009-04-10 15:33:06

Curiously, there has been little information about DMTSO lately. When is registration for the Fall 2009 season? What is the oldest age group level that will be offered for both boys and girls teams?

We are confident that we will offer U-13 boys and girls. We MAY offer U-14 and older teams IF there are coaches AND enough interest.

This note was sent out on 4-12-09:

Parents and coaches,
First of all, welcome to the Spring 2009 season -- hopefully, the weather will begin to match the calendar!!! Secondly, I want to make sure that each of you know the calendar of events for the Spring. I will then give you an update on the Dublin soccer scene. Finally, I want to give you a rough calendar of events moving forward.

Here are the details if you are interested in reading more.......

All teams should be under way for the Spring outdoor season by now. The GOYSL rosters were due this past Friday. If you have not yet signed the roster this Spring, please try to make arrangements with your coach to get this done. The regular season will wrap-up just before the GOYSL tournament which is being held the weekend of May 16th and May 17th at Soccer First. Based on the input from our coaches and from many of you, I will be lobbying for a more competitive divisions breakdown. The schedule for the tournament should be finalized by sometime around the 8th to the 10th of May.

As many of you know, the Dublin soccer scene is in the midst of an incredible number of changes. First of all, Ohio Premier, long known as a top girls-only soccer club, has announced a merger with the NCSL Eagles out of Upper Arlington. Coupled with the merger was an announcement of an intent by Ohio Premier to become a coed soccer club beginning in the Fall of 2009 offering boys for the first time. This merger creates a Regional Super Club intent on competing with Worthington Crew Juniors. Not surprisingly, Team Ohio has responded with plans to offer girls in the Fall of 2009. Team Ohio intends to create a second Regional Super Club in Dublin. For the first time since the creation of OP, there will be two high level clubs in Dublin competing for the same players -- both Dublin residents and the top players from the general Central Ohio area. In addition, there will likely be several other club mergers around the Central Ohio area this Spring. The Agreements that each organization has in place will be terminated as of April of 2010. The DSL Agreement will be redone first. Then each of the “club” agreements -- including ours -- will be negotiated. These terminations were necessary to allow for the new Agreements to be created. It will be interesting to see how the new agreements look one year from now.

With all of this activity, will things change for the DMTSO? Interestingly, our relationship with Team Ohio has improved dramatically over the past six months. We are very close to finalizing an Agreement concerning training and other relationships for the 2009-10 season. Our relationship with Ohio Premier has been better than the Team Ohio relationship in the past. We have begun working with the OP-Eagles to develop a relationship with them as well. We hope to have an Agreement in place with Team Ohio within the week. While an Agreement is not imminent, I hope that we will have an Agreement with the OP-Eagles as well. The good news for the DMTSO is that our players will get more attention moving forward.

We expect to have our registration system in place for the 2009-10 season by no later than May 10th. Our total cost is expected to remain under $400 for the full year including new uniforms. You will see a number of changes to our Calendar of Events. The player evaluations will be held at the same time other organizations are conducting tryouts. Our uniform sizing sessions will be published at registration time (they will all be held between June 1st and June 15th or so). The practice uniform and game uniform delivery system will be streamlined significantly as well. For your planning purposes, the Team Camp will be held the week of August 3rd at Avery Park.

You will see several other significant changes and enhancements over the next couple weeks!!! Stay tuned.

Thanks,
Ken
